The beauty of Google Reader’s follower feature
In the last couple of weeks, I’ve noticed that Google Reader has rolled out a feature that allow you to follow your friends in the RSS reader. Seing what items they share, which is kind of the ‘facebook like’ feature.

You have been able to subsscribe to shared items for a while, but this is much more intuitive and will probably encourage people to share more articles.
I don’t know if Google Reader is the standard in RSS readers, but like twitter is the micro blogging standard, this could be pretty interesting. You don’t have to bookmark on delicious or share on facebook, friendfeed or twitter in order to point your friends to your favourite articles, less clicks means more sharing (I think/hope).
Anyway, I like that I can get my friends to filter out all the good stuff, then simply share it so that I can read it later. I don’t have to go through hundreds of meaningless posts, I just want the good stuff.
